Liz's Knitting and Stuff

My online diary. I've never done this before so the blog will probably be very lame for a while! I love knitting and papercrafts, my beautiful children and my adorable husband. I'm just crazy for animals of all kind and have a boatload living with me.

Secret pal 8!!!

I'm going to sign up tomorrow for my first Secret Pal exchange!! I love mail, both sending and receiving. Getting off these meds has left me quite depressed and this gives me something to look forward to!!!

This weekend we're all going to my Dad's for a celebration; it's been 1 whole year since his very successful triple bypass surgery!! He smoked his last cigarette on the way to the hospital and hasn't had any since! I'm so proud of him so I thought a celebration was in order. He smoked for 46 years so stopping was no easy feat, but he did it!! I'm so proud of him!!!

That's it for now; I have to clean my filthy house now so I can do some knitting this afternoon!

It's hard out here for a pimp..............................!

Sorry, I loved that movie and I don't think I'd have any other chance to actually say it.

My Alex is back from Disney World and he had a great time. It was my little boy's first trip away from home without Dad and me. We took Monica, Ariel and Elizabeth to Kings Dominion last Saturday. It was only fair; amusement park action for both of my sweeties!!

I can't wait until Laurie (CAP) gets back from Paris. I miss her blog so much!!

My heart is broken. Dana Reeve's death from lung cancer is so sad. My beautiful mother also suffered with non-smoker's lung cancer. She was diagnosed in May 2002 (on her 60th birthday) and died 15 months later on September 8, 2003. She too had a nagging cough for MONTHS and went to her doctor several times for it. He ignored her complaints time and time again. She insisted on a chest x-ray in May and they found a massive tumor in one of her lungs. She had the lung removed but it was too late; her cancer had spread to her brain, bones and colon. She suffered through every treatment imaginable; she was intent on surviving. She fought harder than anyone else I've ever known. She ended up with pneumonia during her last round of chemo and died at 12:15 AM on September 8.

I can't imagine how sad Dana must have been knowing that she was leaving behind a son who would have no parents. It's a nightmare I've had for years.

Please pray for Dana and her son Will. That's all that's left to do for them.

It's my sweet boy's birthday!!!!

Happy 15th Birthday, Alex!!!!

How could it possibly be 15 years since that gorgeous infant was born??? Being a mom has been the BEST thing that has ever happened to me.

I love you, my angel. Please stop growing up so fast, okay??

Love, Mommy

I am a bad blogger! I haven't posted anything in almost a month. My withdrawal from oxycontin is killing me. I'm knitting three things now: the aforementioned sweater for sweet Estella, a Kitty Pi bed for my cat Lily, and a purse I'm designing to look like shearling. It's hard to knit when your whole body is shaking so I haven't gotten too far lately.

My baby Alex is going to be 15 on friday.....wasn't he just born a couple of years ago??? He's becoming such a wonderful man (just like his father) and I'm so proud!! Here's my favorite boys fixing one of Alex's guns last night:

I'll add the photo later. I've already spent 45 minutes trying to figure out how to find and add that photo so I'll have to consult my Administrator (my dear husband) to help me figure this out. Like I said, I am a BAD blogger!!!

I joined the Knitting Olympics!! Stephanie aka Yarn Harlot has started a knitting version of the upcoming Winter Olympics. Being such a beginner, I've chosen to make the Big Bad Baby Blanket from Stitch n Bitch for new baby Estella. I bought some beautiful bulky hand-dyed cotton yarn in bright colors to match her gorgeous Pottery Barn nursery set. It's going to be huge because the yarn is not the same gauge as the pattern but I figure bigger is better when it comes to baby blankets. I've wound all the hanks on my new Christmas swift and ball winder (thank you, sweetie!) and I'm all set to go. I have some UFO's to finish before hand; a Debbie Bliss baby sweater in light pink Soft Baby (for E of course) and a couple of scarves. If I have time I'll make a Pink Lady felted bag as well.

I'll take some pictures tomorrow, I promise, and will add them to my (lame) blog.
